Ingredients
1 pound sausage
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup vegetable oil
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Spray a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook sausage until no longer pink.
Spread sausage in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Sprinkle cheese over the sausage.
In a medium bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, and sugar.
In a small bowl, mix together buttermilk and oil.
Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Pour batter over the top of the sausage and cheese.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until top is golden brown.
