Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups raisins

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
  2. Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt, cinnamon, and flour. Mix until well blended. Stir in raisins.
  3. Drop on cookie sheets by tablespoonfuls. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
