Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375F (190C). Grease a baking sheet or line with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and cloves. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in egg, lemon juice, and vanilla extract until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
