Quick Nariyal Burfi Indian Coconut Fudge

Ingredients

  • 2 cups freshly grated or desiccated coconut
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¼ cup ghee (clarified butter)
  • 2 tablespoons cardamom powder
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cashews (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped almonds (optional)

Directions

  1. In a pan, heat the ghee on medium-low heat.
  2. Once the ghee is melted, add the grated coconut, sugar and cardamom powder.
  3. Stir the mixture until everything is well combined.
  4. Continue stirring the mixture for about 5 minutes until it starts to thicken.
  5. Once it is thick enough to form a soft dough, turn off the heat.
  6. Add the chopped almonds and cashews, if you are using them.
  7. Mix everything well.
  8. Transfer the mixture to a greased tray and spread it in an even layer.
  9. Press the top lightly with a spoon or spatula to even it out.
  10. Let the burfi cool completely before cutting it into squares.
  11. Serve and enjoy!
