Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in buttermilk and vanilla. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just blended.
Fold in cranberries and walnuts. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.
Bake for 40 to 50 minutes in preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the loaf comes out clean.
Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
