Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup white sugar
- ⅓ cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- 1 cup cold water
- 1 cup cherry pie filling
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons butter
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the vanilla, vinegar, and cold water, and stir until smooth.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes. Invert onto a serving plate, and spread the cherry pie filling over the top.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the chocolate chips and butter over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Drizzle over the top of the cake.
