Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 9 no-boil lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic and cook until the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in the marinara sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. In a medium bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped basil, egg, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  6. Place 3 lasagna noodles on top of the sauce, breaking them as necessary to fit.
  7. Spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles.
  8. Top with a third of the remaining meat sauce and sprinkle with 1/3 of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
  9. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients, ending with a layer of meat sauce and mozzarella cheese on top.
  10. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  11. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  12. Let the lasagna cool for a few minutes before serving.
  13. Slice and serve hot.
