Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2/3 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup rainbow sprinkles
  • 1/4 cup mini candy-coated chocolates

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9-inch cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla and eggs and beat until combined.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just incorporated. Add the buttermilk and mix until combined.
  5. Gently fold in the sprinkles and mini candy-coated chocolates.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
