Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the Parmesan and egg until combined.
Divide the mushroom mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty. Place the patties on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake in a preheated 375°F oven for 15 minutes, or until the burgers are golden brown and cooked through.
To serve, place the burgers on the toasted buns and top with the optional toppings, if desired.
