Ingredients

  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 cups raw peanuts
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. In a large pot, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir together and heat over medium-high heat until the mixture reaches a rolling boil.
  2. Add the peanuts and stir to combine. Reduce the heat to low and continue to stir for about 15 minutes, or until the mixture thickens and starts to turn golden.
  3. Remove the pot from the heat and quickly stir in the butter, baking soda, and vanilla extract. The mixture will foam up.
  4. Pour the mixture onto a greased baking sheet and spread out evenly. Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
