Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter
  • 3 tablespoons cold water

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  2. Cut the butter into small pieces and add to the flour mixture. Using a pastry blender or two knives, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add the cold water and mix until the dough comes together. If the dough is too dry, add a little more water, 1 tablespoon at a time.
  4. Shape the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a 12-inch circle. Place the dough in a 9-inch pie plate and trim the excess dough. Crimp the edges of the pie crust.
  6. Bake according to your recipe instructions.
