Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the molasses.
- Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt; stir into the molasses mixture.
- Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Roll the dough into walnut sized balls, and place them onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until the edges of the cookies begin to brown.
- Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
