Ingredients
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup dark brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup molasses
4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the molasses.
Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt; stir into the molasses mixture.
Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Roll the dough into walnut sized balls, and place them onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until the edges of the cookies begin to brown.
Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
