Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon kosher salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon sugar
1 cup warm water
1 teaspoon active dry yeast
1 egg beaten
2 tablespoons of melted butter or margarine
Directions
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar.
In a separate bowl, mix together the warm water, yeast, and egg until completely combined.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover with a damp cloth. Allow the dough to rise for about 20 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Divide the dough into six equal pieces and shape into round bagel shapes.
Brush each bagel with the melted butter or margarine and place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
Bake for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely before serving.
