Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons strong brewed coffee

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the butter-sugar mixture, stirring until just combined. Stir in the coffee, chocolate chips, and walnuts.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Allow the brownies to cool completely before frosting.
  6. In a medium bowl, combine the powdered sugar, melted butter, and coffee. Beat until light and fluffy. Spread over the cooled brownies.
  7. Cut into squares and enjoy!
