Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, bread crumbs, onion, garlic powder, pepper, salt, and egg.
  2. Form the mixture into four patties and set aside.
  3. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the patties and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through.
  5. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
  6. In the same skillet, add the beef broth, tomato sauce, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to combine.
  7. Return the patties to the skillet and bring the mixture to a boil.
  8. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and the patties are cooked through.
  9. Serve with mashed potatoes.
