Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange zest
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup raisins

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease 12 muffin cups or line with paper muffin liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the flours, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Beat in the orange juice and zest until smooth.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Fold in the nuts and raisins.
  5. Fill the prepared muffin cups with the batter. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool the muffins in the pans for 10 minutes before removing and cooling completely on a wire rack.
