Ingredients
- 1 pound penne pasta
- 1 pound spicy Italian sausage
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, diced
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 tablespoons freshly grated parmesan cheese
Directions
- Cook the pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and cooked through, about 5 minutes. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
- Add the olive oil to the skillet, then add the bell peppers, onion, and garlic. Cook until vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the tomatoes, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes to the skillet and stir to combine. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Return the cooked sausage to the skillet and stir to combine. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and stir to combine. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve with freshly grated parmesan cheese.
