Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons masala spice blend
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons freshly grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 3 tablespoons freshly chopped curry leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup water

Directions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon, until it is no longer pink, about 7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the masala spice blend, ground ginger, grated ginger, cumin and curry leaves. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  4. Add the water, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve.
