Ingredients

  • 1 9-inch unbaked pie crust
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup of white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups of half-and-half
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1/3 cup of packed light brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup of pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup of chopped pecans

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a medium bowl, beat egg yolks with a wire whisk. Add sugar, flour and salt. Gradually blend in half-and-half.
  3. Pour mixture into pie crust. Bake for 30 minutes or until the center is firm.
  4. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add brown sugar and maple syrup. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture boils. Boil 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in chopped nuts.
  6. Spread maple topping evenly over hot pie. Cool completely before serving.
