Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup water
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Sugar for rolling
Directions
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Add the melted butter, eggs, milk, and water and mix until a soft dough forms.
- Cover the dough and let it rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Heat the oil in a deep-fryer or deep skillet to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Using a spoon or your hands, scoop out small pieces of dough and drop into the hot oil.
- Fry the malasadas for 2 to 3 minutes, until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Roll the malasadas in sugar while still hot.
