Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound bacon, diced
  • 1/2 pound sausage, crumbled
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
  • 2 cans (15 ounces each) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, jalapenos

Directions

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef, bacon, and sausage over medium heat until browned.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot and cook until the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, kidney beans, black beans, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
  4. Bring the chili to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and let it cook for 45 minutes to 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  5. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed. Add more chili powder or cayenne pepper for spicier chili, or salt and black pepper for more flavor.
  6. Serve the chili hot with your favorite toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, and jalapenos.
