Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; stir into the creamed mixture.
  3. Roll dough into 1 inch balls, and place them 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  4. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until the edges are golden.
  5. Let cookies cool for 1 minute on the cookie sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
