Ingredients
1/2 pound bacon, diced
2 onions, diced
2 pounds beef round steak, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup beef broth
1/2 cup dry white wine
Directions
In a large skillet, cook bacon and onions until bacon is crisp and onions are soft. Remove from heat and set aside.
On a cutting board, lay out the steak slices and season each side with salt and pepper.
Divide the bacon-onion mixture into 8 equal portions and place one portion in the center of each steak slice.
Roll up each steak slice around the bacon-onion mixture, tucking in the ends to make a sealed pocket.
In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the rolled steaks and cook until lightly browned, about 5 minutes per side.
Reduce heat to low and add the beef broth and wine. Simmer, covered, for 45 minutes, turning the rouladen occasionally.
Serve hot.
