This Erupting Volcano Cake is not only a delectable treat but also a fun and visually stunning dessert that will bring excitement to any party. Ingredients

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix
  • Ingredients required for the cake mix (eggs, oil, water)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 12 oz red candy melts
  • Yellow and red food coloring
  • Chocolate rocks or candy rocks for decoration
  • Small plastic volcano toy

Directions

  1. Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions and bake in two round cake pans.
  2. Let the cakes cool completely and level the tops if necessary.
  3. Using a knife, hollow out the center of one cake, creating a well for the lava ganache.
  4. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream until just simmering.
  5. Add the red candy melts and stir until smooth.
  6. Tint the ganache with yellow and red food coloring to achieve a lava color.
  7. Pour the lava ganache into the well of the hollowed-out cake.
  8. Place the other cake on top to cover the ganache.
  9. Decorate the cake with chocolate rocks around the base and on top.
  10. Place the plastic volcano toy on top of the cake.
  11. When ready to serve, press the button on the volcano toy to make the lava ganache erupt from the center of the cake.
