Set the Instant Pot to the sauté setting. Add the olive oil and onion and cook until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
Add the garlic, turmeric, cumin, ginger, coriander, and black pepper and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Add the vegetable broth, broccoli, salt, and red pepper flakes (if using) and stir to combine.
Secure the lid and set the Instant Pot to manual high pressure for 5 minutes.
When the timer is done, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes, then quick release the remaining pressure.
Remove the lid and use an immersion blender to blend the soup until smooth. Alternatively, you can transfer the soup to a blender and blend until smooth.
Taste and adjust seasonings if needed. Serve warm.
