Enjoy making these flavorful homemade Instant Pot Sloppy Joes in no time. This classic American dish is made with ground beef cooked in a tangy and sweet sauce, served on a soft hamburger bun. It's perfect for a quick and satisfying weeknight dinner or a casual gathering with friends and family.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 8 hamburger buns
Directions
- Set your Instant Pot to 'Sauté' mode and heat some oil.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon.
- Once the beef is browned, add the diced onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened.
- Stir in the ketchup, tomato paste, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, yellow mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
- Close the Instant Pot lid and set it to 'Manual' or 'Pressure Cook' mode for 5 minutes. Make sure the pressure valve is set to 'Sealing'.
- Once the cooking time is up, do a quick release of the pressure by carefully turning the pressure valve to 'Venting'.
- Open the Instant Pot lid and give the mixture a stir. If desired, you can use the 'Sauté' mode again to thicken the sauce.
- Serve the sloppy joe mixture on hamburger buns and enjoy!
