Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a baking sheet.
- In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, cardamom, and salt. Gradually stir in the flour and water until a stiff dough is formed.
- Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into strips 1 inch wide and 12 inches long.
- Shape each strip into a horn shape by rolling one end of the strip to the middle, then the other end over it. Place the horns on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, mix together the cream, vanilla extract, and egg. Brush the horns with the mixture and sprinkle with the walnuts and raisins.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar and serve.
