Ingredients
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups granulated sugar
1 cup creamy peanut butter
6 cups crispy rice cereal
1/2 cup chopped peanuts (optional)
Directions
Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.
Stir in the corn syrup, vanilla, and sugar and bring to a boil.
Once boiling, reduce the heat and simmer for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
Remove from the heat and stir in the peanut butter until smooth.
Stir in the cereal and peanuts until evenly mixed.
Press the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking pan.
Let cool for at least one hour before cutting into bars.

This recipe can be easily doubled or tripled to make a larger batch of candy bars.
You can also use other types of cereal in this recipe, such as Cheerios or Corn Flakes.
