Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup popcorn salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • Orange food coloring
  • Candy eyes

Directions

  1. Pop the popcorn in a large pot with the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Once the popcorn is popped, transfer to a large bowl and season with the popcorn salt.
  3. In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and 1/4 cup of water. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil.
  4. Once the mixture is boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Remove the mixture from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and baking soda.
  6. Add a few drops of orange food coloring and stir until combined.
  7. Pour the mixture over the popcorn and stir to combine. Be sure to scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl so that all of the popcorn is evenly coated.
  8. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the popcorn mixture onto the sheet in an even layer.
  9. Press the candy eyes into the popcorn mixture and allow the popcorn to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
