Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix together with your hands until all the ingredients are blended.
  2. Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and set aside.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8 minutes.
  4. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and season with oregano, basil, and parsley. Simmer for 20 minutes.
