Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 4 green onions, sliced

Directions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the potatoes and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are lightly browned, about 10 minutes.
  2. Reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are tender and the sauce is thickened, about 15 minutes.
  3. Add the water and continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is thickened and the potatoes are fully cooked, about 10 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle the sesame seeds and green onions over the potatoes. Serve hot.
