Ingredients

  • 2 pounds fresh apricots, pitted and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine apricots, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and 2 tablespoons flour. Toss to coat the apricots evenly.
  3. Spread the apricot mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Stir in buttermilk until a soft dough forms.
  5. Drop dough by spoonfuls over the top of the apricot mixture. Sprinkle with sliced almonds.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  7. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
