Ingredients

  • Dough:
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • Filling:
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • Icing:
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, and eggs.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a large rectangle on a floured surface.
  8. Spread the softened butter over the dough and sprinkle with the brown sugar and cinnamon.
  9. Starting from one long side, tightly roll the dough into a log.
  10. Cut the log into 12 equal-sized rolls and place them in a greased baking pan.
  11. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown.
  12. While the rolls are baking, prepare the icing by beating the cream cheese, softened butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
