Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  4. Roll the dough into 1 inch balls and place them 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  5. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
