Ingredients

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 4 nori seaweed sheets
  • 6 ounces smoked salmon
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 cucumber, julienned
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black sesame seeds (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon white sesame seeds (optional)

Directions

  1. Cook sushi rice according to package instructions. Once cooked, let it cool completely.
  2. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, and salt. Mix well to make the sauce.
  3. Place a bamboo sushi mat on a clean surface. Lay a sheet of nori seaweed on the mat.
  4. Wet your hands with water to prevent sticking. Take a handful of sushi rice and spread it evenly on the nori, leaving about 1 inch of the top edge empty.
  5. Spread a thin layer of the prepared sauce on top of the rice.
  6. Place slices of smoked salmon, avocado, and julienned cucumber on top of the sauce.
  7. Using the bamboo mat, tightly roll the sushi, applying gentle pressure to ensure it sticks together.
  8. Repeat the process with the remaining ingredients to make additional rolls.
  9. Using a sharp knife, carefully slice each roll into bite-sized pieces.
  10. Garnish with black and white sesame seeds (optional).
  11. Serve the smoked salmon sushi rolls with soy sauce and wasabi, if desired.
