Ingredients

  • 24 large mushrooms
  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Remove the stems from the mushrooms and set aside. Arrange the mushroom caps on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. In a skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat until browned and cooked through. Use a spoon to break up the sausage into small pieces.
  4. Add the reserved mushroom stems to the skillet and cook until tender. Remove from heat.
  5. In a bowl, combine the cooked sausage, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  6. Using a teaspoon, stuff each mushroom cap with a generous amount of the sausage mixture. Press the mixture into the mushroom cap to make sure it is tightly packed.
  7. Bake the stuffed mushrooms in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the mushrooms are tender and the filling is golden brown.
  8. Serve hot as an appetizer or snack. Enjoy!
