- 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley, for garnish
Directions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, onions, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into oval-shaped patties, about 3/4 inch thick.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until browned.
- Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Gradually add beef broth to the skillet, stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Cook until the gravy thickens.
- If desired, add sliced mushrooms to the gravy. Return the patties to the skillet and simmer for an additional 8-10 minutes, or until the patties are cooked through and the flavors are well blended.
- Serve the Salisbury steak hot, topped with the mushroom gravy. Garnish with chopped parsley.
