This pineapple flan is a delightful dessert that combines the creaminess of traditional flan with the tropical sweetness of pineapple. Made with simple ingredients, this homemade recipe will impress your guests and leave them craving for more. The smooth custard-like texture infused with the bright flavors of pineapple creates a perfect balance. It's a great dessert choice for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk
  • 1 can (20 ounces) crushed pineapple, drained
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar until it caramelizes into a golden amber color. Make sure to stir continuously to prevent burning.
  3. Pour the caramelized sugar into a 9-inch round baking dish, evenly coating the bottom.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, crushed pineapple, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  5. Carefully pour the mixture over the caramelized sugar in the baking dish.
  6. Place the baking dish in a larger roasting pan. Fill the roasting pan with hot water until it reaches about halfway up the sides of the baking dish. This water bath will help the flan cook evenly.
  7. Carefully transfer the roasting pan with the flan mixture and water bath to the preheated oven.
  8. Bake for approximately 50-60 minutes or until the flan is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
  9. Remove the baking dish from the water bath and allow it to cool to room temperature.
  10. Once cooled, cover the flan with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to chill and set.
  11. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the baking dish to loosen the flan. Place a large serving plate upside down on top of the dish and carefully flip them over together. The flan should release onto the plate, revealing the golden caramelized top.
  12. Slice and serve chilled. Enjoy!
