- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme leaves
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 orange, sliced
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon water
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Remove the giblets and neck from the turkey cavity. Rinse the turkey inside and out and pat dry with paper towels.
- In a bowl, whisk together the orange juice, maple syrup, melted butter, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, and thyme leaves.
- Season the turkey with salt and black pepper, both inside and outside. Place the turkey in a roasting pan with a rack.
- Pour half of the orange and maple glaze over the turkey, reserving the other half for basting later.
- Place the orange slices inside the turkey cavity.
- Roast the turkey in the preheated oven for about 2 hours, basting every 30 minutes with the remaining glaze.
- Check the internal temperature of the turkey using a meat thermometer. It should read 165°F (75°C) when the turkey is fully cooked.
- Once cooked, remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
- In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Transfer the drippings from the roasting pan to a saucepan and bring to a simmer.
