  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/4 cup Nesquik powder (chocolate)
  • 1/4 cup Nesquik powder (strawberry)
  • For the frosting:
  • 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons Nesquik powder (chocolate)
  • 3 tablespoons Nesquik powder (strawberry)
  • For decoration:
  • Fresh strawberries
  • Nesquik powder (chocolate and strawberry)

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until well combined.
  4. Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. Divide the batter evenly into 3 separate bowls.
  5. In the first bowl, add the chocolate Nesquik powder and mix well. In the second bowl, add the strawberry Nesquik powder and mix well. Leave the third bowl plain.
  6. Pour each batter into their respective cake pans. Smooth the tops with a spatula.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Meanwhile, prepare the frosting. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and beat until fluffy.
  10. Add the milk and vanilla extract and continue beating until well combined.
  11. Divide the frosting into three separate bowls. Add the chocolate Nesquik powder to one bowl, the strawberry Nesquik powder to another bowl, and leave the third bowl plain.
  12. Once the cakes have cooled, place one chocolate layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of chocolate frosting on top. Place the vanilla layer on top and spread a layer of vanilla frosting. Finally, place the strawberry layer on top and spread a layer of strawberry frosting.
  13. Frost the sides of the cake with the remaining plain frosting.
  14. Decorate the top of the cake with fresh strawberries and a sprinkle of Nesquik powder (chocolate and strawberry).
  15. Serve and enjoy!
