This recipe combines the sweet and tart flavors of apples with a crunchy granola streusel topping. The hasselback technique creates a beautiful presentation, perfect for a special dessert or breakfast treat.

Ingredients

  • 4 large apples, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (such as almonds or pecans)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture over the sliced apples.
  3. In another bowl, combine the oats, chopped nuts, brown sugar, and melted butter to make the streusel topping.
  4. Using a knife, make small cuts in each apple slice (hasselback style) without cutting all the way through.
  5. Place the apple slices on the prepared baking sheet and spoon the streusel mixture onto each slice.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the apples are tender and the streusel is golden brown.
  7. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Enjoy!
