With just a handful of ingredients and minimal preparation time, you can enjoy these delicious treats in no time.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 cup apricot preserve
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add the cold butter pieces and mix with a pastry cutter or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add the cold water, a tablespoon at a time, and mix until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overmix.
  4. Divide the dough into two equal portions and shape each portion into a disk. Wrap them in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. On a lightly floured surface, roll out one of the dough disks into a rectangular shape, about 1/8 inch thick.
  7. Spread half of the apricot preserve evenly over the surface of the dough.
  8. Starting from one of the longer sides, tightly roll the dough into a log.
  9. Using a sharp knife, cut the log into 1-inch wide slices.
  10. Transfer the slices onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each twist.
  11. Repeat the rolling, filling, and slicing process with the remaining dough and apricot preserve.
  12. In a small bowl, whisk together the beaten egg and water to make an egg wash.
  13. Brush the twists with the egg wash, ensuring they are fully coated.
  14. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the twists are golden brown.
  15. Remove from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack.
  16. Once cooled, dust the twists with powdered sugar before serving.
