Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken wings, tips removed and separated into drumettes and flats
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced for garnish
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, sriracha sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, Chinese five-spice powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to make the marinade.
  2. Add the chicken wings to the marinade and toss to coat evenly. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or overnight for better flavor.
  3. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and grease with cooking spray.
  4. Arrange the marinated chicken wings on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer. Reserve the marinade.
  5. Bake the wings for 30 minutes, turning them halfway through. The wings should be golden brown and crispy.
  6. Meanwhile, transfer the reserved marinade to a small saucepan and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes, or until it thickens into a glaze.
  7. Once the wings are cooked, remove them from the oven and toss them in the thickened marinade glaze until evenly coated.
  8. Return the coated wings to the baking sheet and broil for 2-3 minutes, or until the glaze caramelizes and becomes sticky.
  9. Garnish the spicy Chinese chicken wings with thinly sliced green onions and sesame seeds, if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
