Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix warm milk, melted butter, and eggs.
  3. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 6-8 minutes, then place in a greased bowl and let rise for 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the dough and knead in raisins and orange zest.
  6. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape them into buns. Place on a baking sheet and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  8. Bake buns for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Mix powdered sugar with milk to make a glaze and pipe crosses on top of the buns.
