  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  5. Mix in the pumpkin puree until well combined.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the pumpkin mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients.
