Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9-inch round baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the cold cubed butter to the dry ingredients and using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, cut it into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the milk and orange zest until a soft dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it a few times until it comes together.
  6. Roll the dough into a rectangle approximately 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Brush the melted butter over the entire surface of the dough.
  8. Sprinkle the granulated sugar evenly over the buttered dough.
  9. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough into small squares or rectangles.
  10. Stack the dough squares/rectangles on top of each other and then place them vertically into the prepared baking dish.
  11. Pour the orange juice over the dough, evenly distributing it.
  12. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the pull-aparts are golden brown and cooked through.
  13. While the pull-aparts are baking, prepare the orange glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar and orange juice until smooth.
  14. Once baked, remove the pull-aparts from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
  15. Drizzle the orange glaze over the warm pull-aparts.
  16. Serve immediately and enjoy!
