This classic Italian dish is a family favorite and perfect for a cozy dinner at home. Tender and juicy chicken breasts are coated in bread crumbs, fried until golden brown, and topped with a flavorful marinara sauce and melted cheese. Serve it over spaghetti noodles for a complete meal that will satisfy everyone's cravings.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Cooked spaghetti noodles, for serving

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound them to an even thickness using a meat mallet or rolling pin.
  3. In a shallow dish, combine the bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, dried basil, dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, shake off the excess, then dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it evenly with the breadcrumb mixture. Press firmly to adhere the coating to the chicken.
  5. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add enough oil to cover the bottom. Sear the chicken breasts for about 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer the chicken to a baking dish.
  6. Pour the marinara sauce over the chicken breasts, making sure they are fully covered. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with fresh basil leaves.
  9. Serve the chicken Parmesan over cooked spaghetti noodles and enjoy!
