Ingredients

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Dipping sauce, such as mayonnaise or a garlic aioli

Directions

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the cornmeal, water, and sea salt and mix until combined.
  2. Stir in the all-purpose flour and mix until combined.
  3. Heat a large skillet or pot over medium-high heat and add enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom of the pot.
  4. Using a tablespoon or your hands, form the cornmeal mixture into small sticks and carefully place them in the hot oil.
  5. Fry the sticks until they are golden-brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Remove the sticks from the oil and transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess oil.
  7. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
