Ingredients

  • 1 pound (450 g) medium-sized shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup (240 mL) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (120 mL) cold water
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.2 g) salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.2 g) baking soda
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, water, salt, and baking soda to make a thin batter.
  2. Heat the oil in a large, deep skillet over medium heat.
  3. Dip each shrimp into the batter and carefully place into the hot oil.
  4. Fry the shrimp for about 3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Remove the shrimp from the pan and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
