These baked yam fries are a guilt-free twist on traditional fries. The yams are cut into thick fries, seasoned with flavorful spices, and baked until crispy. Serve them with a homemade creamy dip for a satisfying and healthy snack or side dish. They are perfect for any occasion and will surely impress your family and friends.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium yams
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Wash and scrub the yams thoroughly. Cut off the ends and then cut them into thick fry shapes, about 1/2 inch (1 cm) thick.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if desired). Add the yam fries to the bowl and toss them until they are well coated with the seasoning mixture.
  4. Arrange the seasoned yam fries in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  5. Bake the fries in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Then, flip them over and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until they are crispy and golden brown.
  6. While the yam fries are baking, prepare the creamy dip. In a small bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, lemon juice, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Once the yam fries are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
  8. Serve the baked yam fries hot with the homemade creamy dip on the side.
  9. Enjoy this tasty and nutritious snack or side dish!
